To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Kathy Medley. I have been a professional educator for over 22 years, the last 10 as a school principal or head of school. Based on these years of experience and training I offer my thoughts on Mrs. Medley’s qualifications. Mrs. Medley has worked at Daegu International School for three years and I am her direct supervisor. I have observed her instruction on multiple occasions and conducted two formal evaluations. I am confident in giving a strong recommendation without reserve for Mrs. Medley’s employment as an ESL and classroom teacher.
Kathy Medley possesses strong content and pedagogical knowledge. Her instruction is well-planned and effective. She employs high impact instructional moves throughout the instructional cycle. She is especially adept at providing rigorous, but supported tasks to students working on multiple levels. Mrs. Medley’s classroom is organized for learning and contains colorful anchor charts and learning supports which are utilized by students. Mrs. Medley was also instrumental in creating an effective protocol and process for screening and formally assessing students’ English skills. The plan provides for formative and summative assessments to track ESL student progress.
Mrs. Medley has developed an excellent rapport with students who both respect her and care about her as a direct result of her respect and concern for them. She puts students first and works tirelessly to provide students with every opportunity to succeed. It is not unusual for Mrs. Medley to offer her assistance to students before school, after school, and during her planning time. Her dedication is noteworthy. She also establishes strong and collaborative relationships with parents.
Additionally, Mrs. Medley maintains a professional demeanor at school and in the community and assumes leadership roles. Her contributions to the entire school community are large and varied, including organizing our chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society, sponsoring LEGO Robotics, participating in committee work, supporting and attending school functions and initiatives, and sponsoring after-school activities.
Mrs. Medley is an exemplary and professional educator who I would rehire without question. Any school would be fortunate to have her on staff. If you desire any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. ([email protected])
Sincerely,
